TRI-UNITY
limestone, 1.50/1.50/1.20 m. - Caldas da Rainha,
Portugal
The
sculpture is designed for a park environment and was commissioned by the
Portuguese Ministry of Culture and the Town Council of Caldas da Rainha.
Movement is
at the heart of all processes existing in the universe. This sculpture
symbolises the passing movement in a form which is uninterrupted and
transformed into energy, spinning smoothly in its three projections.
Tri-Unity is a profound ancient symbol, containing within itself the unity
of man, life and God. Every creation is subject to this universal law and
acts in absolute harmony. The abstract symbolism of the sculpture is reduced
to a sign, with the objective of being perceived emotionally. Its soft
silhouette is in harmony with the park environment, which enhances its
presence in three-dimensional space. Consisting of three intertwined
elements carved in limestone, the work is poised and monumental, yet at the
same time it has the intimate emanation and movement of a chamber work. It
predisposes towards meditation and contemplation, pulsating and captivating.
The sculpture contains within it
a philosophical principle which, presented abstractly, provides the
possibility for personal interpretation. It creates its own atmosphere by
connecting the park environment with the adjacent building. Its abstract
presence supports the interface between the natural and urban elements of
the city environment.
